Spring Has Sprung…Maybe?

Spring Has Sprung…Maybe?

Author: Sara Bertens

I have to say; for once that damn groundhog was actually right.  But now that April is upon us and the sun is shining brighter and longer each day (and the snow is slowly melting away!) it’s time to brush off the winter blues and prepare for the joys that come with spring! Bright flowers are a “mental-must” to remind yourself of the renewal and growth that comes with the season.  Even though Easter has passed, the traditional spring flowers are just beginning to pop up—hyacinths, tulips, lilies, daffodils, etc.  They are an instant reminder that warmer days are upon us.  Fresh flowers are usually off to flower heaven before you have the chance to enjoy them so go ahead and grab a few faux stems to keep your vase looking fresh all season long!

If you still have winter planters on your porch, please do us all a favour and get rid of them!  You can replace your planters with branches such as dogwood or pussy willow, and add pops of colour with forsythia stems, cherry blossoms or seasonal flowers.  Remember, spring is the season of growth so don’t overdo it! Less is more and you can always add to it as the season progresses.

You can’t forget about your front door either. Welcome guests with an inviting floral and/or greenery wreath.  It’s a subtle reminder to put a little spring in your step!
